***LWML SUNDAY will be celebrated on October 21^st.  On that Sunday our worship will focus on mission, and especially the blessing of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  Mite Box offerings will be collected and will be forwarded to the New England District.  Mite box offerings are used to fund LWML’s 2018 – 2020 mission grants.  Please see information in today’s bulletin for NED mission grant updates.  ALSO: save the date…. Wednesday Night Worship and Prayer Ministry…Worship on Wednesday evenings will be taking a break for a while in order to focus our resources on the three Sunday morning worship services and our Christian Education Hour. Prayer Ministry will still meet at 6:30 pm on Wednesday nights, with Bible study to follow at 7:00 pm.   

Midweek Bible Study has moved…from Monday nights to Wednesday nights.  Whether a new Bible study student or a seasoned studier of God’s Word, all are welcome on Wednesdays from 7 pm – 8 pm to explore the truths of Scripture together. Our first topic is Romans!

Today is Rally Day! 

All are invited to be a part of the excitement this morning as we kick off the education year. Our service today will include the installation of our Education leaders. At the end of worship we will have coffee fellowship, a meet and greet with Sunday school class leaders for children and youth, a Bible treasure hunt for all ages, and ice cream sundaes! 

Changes to Sunday Mornings – Beginning Next Sunday, September 16^th  Next Sunday, we will begin our fall worship and education schedule on Sept 16^th.  Worship at 8:00 am and 10:45 am will continue to be more traditional in format with a Children’s Message and Holy Communion at every service, every Sunday.

At 9:45 am, there will be a third worship opportunity in the sanctuary that is more contemporary in nature. It will include a different style of music than our other two worship opportunities, and will include Holy Communion.

At the 10:45 am worship service, we will be implementing a Staffed Nursery Room. While children are always welcome in worship, this option will be available for infants and toddlers to be cared for during the sermon portion of the service if parents so desire. Volunteers are needed to serve in the nursery. Please let Pastor Manor or an elder know if you are willing to be on a rotating schedule.

At 9:30 am each Sunday, we will have an all-church-family opening to our Education Hour in the Lower Fellowship Room. All are invited to grab your coffee and treats, then join together for celebration in Christ and an introduction to the studies for the day.

At 9:45 am the children and youth from PreK – high school will gather for the Bible study and activities portion of the morning, and the adults will remain for Bible study.

Sunday School Leaders Needed  As we strive to support parents in their ministry to their children, the Board of Education is looking for volunteers to serve as leaders in our Sunday school this year. All the resources are provided for you to share God’s Word with the kids and youth. Our goal is to have multiple leaders for each age group, so no one has to commit to leading every Sunday. Whether you’ve led Sunday school in the past, or you’ve never done it but are interested, we’d love to talk to you about leading. Please contact Pastor Manor, Greg Kuhr, or Natalie Jury if you have any questions or to express your interest in leading this year.

 Rally Day / Sunday School Kick-Off – Sunday, September 9^th!   All are invited to this exciting morning at St. Paul’s as we kick off the fall schedule of worship and education. The day will include the installation of our Education leaders and the first Sunday of Bible study and activities for kids, youth, and adults.  Look for Sunday school registration materials to be available soon!

Sunday School Leaders Needed:  When little ones are brought to the Lord to be baptized here at St. Paul’s, we as the church family promise “to do everything within our power to support these parents in their ministry, and in loving and life-giving ways to foster their little one’s growth in faith.” As we strive to fulfill those promises, the Board of Education is looking for volunteers to serve as leaders in our Sunday school this year. All the resources are provided for you to share God’s Word with the kids and youth. Our goal is to have multiple leaders for each age group, so no one has to commit to leading every Sunday. Whether you’ve led Sunday school in the past (maybe even a long time ago!), or you’ve never done it but are interested, we’d love to talk to you about leading this year. Please contact Pastor Manor or a member of the Board of Education if you have any questions or to express your interest in leading this year.

PLEASE NOTIFY Cheryl Lowman at cheryl.cassady@yahoo.com as soon as possible if you have been trained to use our church defibrillator located to the right as you exit the narthex.  Per our recent Usher’s meeting, the idea of a handy list of those trained was suggested.  If you are trained and are willing, we would love to put your name on this very important list.  Thank you very much!

Christmas in July?………. no, but it is a reminder that the annual LAS Christmas Fair is Saturday, December 1^st.  Please think of what you can do or make to support the fair.  Donations of ornaments, knitted/sewn goods, craft items, art work, baked goods, candy, etc… would be appreciated.  Thank you, Ladies Aid Society

Occupations Bulletin Board…Have you ever needed to inquire about a household repair problem or decision and wondered if someone in our church family could give you advice or provide the needed service?  Have you ever wondered if someone at St. Paul’s is a carpenter, babysitter, notary, lawyer, welder, cleaning person, caterer, etc…?  The Board of Stewardship has establish an Occupations Bulletin Board displaying business cards, flyers, or typed information regarding our members who are self-employed or business owners.  Please leave your cards, flyers, or printed information in Janice’s office and we will arrange the new bulletin board once collected. This is one more way to connect with our church family to receive advice or hire someone for needed services they provide. Thank you, Board of Stewardship.   

Ladies Aid Society…will meet Sunday, August 12^th, 11:00am, at my house for a potluck brunch. We will be making plans for New Hartford Day (Sept. 16^th) and the Christmas Fair (Dec. 1^st). Friendship Ablaze! You’re all invited to be a part of this 4 week inspirational series called Friendship Ablaze! Sunday mornings will include a series of worship services and instructional sermons that empower God’s people to invite their friends to meet their best friend, Jesus! We are also having a series of Bible studies that share practical ways for you to continue to grow in your efforts to connect people to Jesus in your daily lives and friendships. Friendship Sunday will be the last week of the series at our worship and picnic at Brodie Park on August 5^th.  On that day, everyone is encouraged to invite a friend, especially those without a church home or a relationship with Jesus, to join you for the special worship service and picnic. I invite, encourage, and challenge you all to be a part of Friendship Ablaze!

What should I bring to worship and the picnic?…Here you go…

• Your family, friends, and neighbors who don’t have a church home or know the Lord.
• Potluck dish to share. There is no refrigeration available, so please bring cold items in a cold bag for the time before lunch.
• Lawn/bag chairs for the picnic – folding chairs will be provided for worship.
• Your favorite lawn games/outdoor activities for the picnic or cards and board games for hanging out together.
